I’m going to forgo the normal ones like PSFK, Fast Company and All Things D (’cause they are already on your daily reading lists) and give you 5 sites that can inspire in other ways. Some directly in the design space, some style inspiration and one that is just damn fun. And since Russ Ward didn’t use all 5 of his … I’m using his last one here!
Great inspiration for those that are regularly designing ad units. One of the best parts is that they showcase a lot of work from Europe and Asia so it’s not what we get to see here in the US.
I think I’m a stylish guy. And this is one of the best designed mens’ style sites out there. Also since I work very closely with a lot of our e-tail clients it’s a great example of the merging of content, curation & commerce (3 of the 4 Cs; content, commerce, community & curation).
Kinda like FFFOUND, but scaled in a way that it’s easy to post to (bookmarklets and even a FireFox extension to add images). Great visual inspiration here, plenty to get whatever juices need flowing to flow. Be warned, there are occasional NSFW images too, but you can set filters to not see that if you like.
Some may know that once upon a decade or more I was an illustrator. I still do it as a hobby. But I am always on the hunt for great art. This blog has some of the best up and coming artist. As well as interviews and much more. If you’re like me and find inspiration in many forms this is definitely a site worth checking.
Formerly Kitsune Noir, Bobby Solomon curates one hell of a design/culture blog. He really finds things you don’t find elsewhere. As I tweeted a few weeks back, I’m always intrigued with how much design blogs are re-blog, this isn’t the case with The Fox, mostly unique stuff can be found here.
This is my freebee from Russ. It shouldn’t really need an explanation other than it’s funny as hell, and it gives those damn cute animals the reality check they deserve! It’s so funny there’s a book! Not recommended for those with sensitivity towards the f-bomb.
When From Bogota With Love first started, the Z-team made a point of sharing their inspiration with you, be it books, websites or music that was pushing the innovation and creative process forward. We’d like to pick that up again.
