I’m not talking about a smartphone, I’m talking about your actual palm.
Check out this video we discovered courtesy of Mashable. We’ve seen demos of these kinds of kinetic interfaces before but I’m always fascinated to see how the technology has advanced. If you get pat the technical jargon in this video, you can see how something like this could be used for any number of consumer devices.
Imagine wearing an armband and having a real time, location based map of your running route displayed on your hand. Or better yet, a feed that tells you exactly where you are in the marathon you are currently running. The possibilities ar endless.
This kind of technology also illustrates the idea that the future of digital interaction is probably going to be much less about the platform and much more about the user experience. After all, it may be that you don’t even need a device if the pico projector demonstrated here and widespread broadband access become common place.
In our business, we’re seeing more and more demand for touchscreen application development. It may be that the next generation will find the concept of a keyboard as archaic as we find floppy disks.
What cool new demos have you seen lately? What technology is getting you excited? And how ill these new developments effect your business and your target consumers?
