That was the tagline for another memorable Zemoga event. As part of New York’s Internet Week, we teamed with Brett Petersel (Head of Biz Dev and a lot of other cool things at MASHABLE) & Jennifer Wojcik (head diva at PINQUED) for a little TechKaraoke. Brett & Jennifer had staged this event at venues like SXSW before but, of course, no one rocks the house like the Zemoga crew. Over 200 digerati were issued Zemoga bandanas and guitar picks and were told to “Turn it to 11!” The crowd didn’t disappoint with some blazing renditions of classic songs including a memorable version of Rush’s “Limelight” by yours truly.
The highlight of the evening was “Digital Idol”, our unique take on American Idol, hosted by the lovely and talented Sarah McLellan (friend of Zemoga and ex-[lead singer of one of our favorite bands, Lez Zeppelin). Sarah joined fellow Simon Cowell wannabes DJ and Brett for an assessment of the evening’s talent, with the winner of the competition receiving something special – a free trip to Bogota courtesy of Zemoga. The competition was fierce but in the end Janifer Cheng of eLabs/Universal Music Group blew the judges away with her take on Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker”. Congratulations to Janifer on her win and make sure to read her blog posts on FROM BOGOTA WITH LOVE describing her visit with our Colombia team.
