If you know anything about the Z-crew, you know that many of us enjoy a good glass of wine, screw top or otherwise. So you can imagine how excited we were to work with a group that’s shared that passion and turned it in to a highly profitable business.
The Country Vintner is a company made up of serious oenophiles. (Look it up, we got it right) They’re also one of the largest distributors of fine wines in the United States. I have been to their state of the art distribution “cellar” in Ashland, VA. It is epic! One of the largest in the world at 170,000 square feet. TCV needed to explore the viability of and define the strategy for an online community portal that united its sales force with The Country Vintner’s global audience.
Zemoga utilized our proprietary Spark methodology to provide discovery and definition in collaboration with TSCV stakeholders. The initial result was a well-defined and clear road map that would meet The Country Vintner’s short – and long-term – business objectives. And the final product was a comprehensive digital sales and marketing platform, enabled with both B2B and B2C access and empowerment.
The consumer site (located at http://www.countryvintner.com) features important “on boarding” information about the company and a searchable database that shows off its portfolio of fine wines. Don’t be fooled by the simple interface and clean design. There is a barrel full of muscle behind the solution that supports over 6000 unique wines, from first growths, varietals and champagnes to practically anything else you can squeeze from a grape. Users can easily find that rare Bordeaux or Falanghina that they sampled in Provence or Amalfi and learn about the numerous services that make TCV unique to the wine lover and industry. Moreover, it was intentionally designed with a welcoming navigation and workflow that ensured user adoption nationally.
In the B2B portion of the site, fine wine consultants can upload selections into a proposal-building dashboard, producing a list of recommendations that complement the prospective client. For existing clients, Zemoga built a profitability calculator, which enables spirits vendors to predict product performance based on the margin per bottle. In addition, all sales requests made through this high-performance online marketplace were archived in the system, optimizing the purchase process, as well as providing The Country Vintner with valuable insight into its customers’ tastes, service desires and trends. Hmmm, Business Intelligence, I’ll toast to that.
