We were very lucky to have, thanks to the amazing Rodrigo Salazar from Compass Porter Novelli, as a last moment addition to our Social Media Week Bogota lineup, Hugo Valenzuela – the taxi driver who tweets.
Hugo is a great example on how people in every industry can use social media platforms to promote their own business and to give their customers a better experience.
In an interview on October 1, Valenzuela explained that he no longer needs to, or is really even able to, get bookings for his taxi via the radio. He is contacted so much on Twitter that he barely can keep up with the demand for his services. And while it’s true that he has become an phenomenon in Bogotá, with over 8,000 followers, he maintains that it is the quality of his service that keeps him so successful.
We think many businesses, world-wide, could learn a lot from Mr. Valenzuela, his adoption of new technology and his dedication to providing his customers the best possible customer service.
