Visual pioneer Martha Skinner has a terrific post on her blog about a project she conducted in Barcelona last year. Martha set out to create a dynamic map of the city that would also be a storytelling experience, a constantly changing guide to the “body of the city” and the dynamics of the organisms (ie. people) within that body. She used bicycles equipped with GPS devices and video and still cameras to develop the visual and interactive components of the project. We met Martha in Barcelona and were delighted to participate in this innovative exploration of user experience. Check out the website and interactive maps that we created as part of the project. We take on projects like this to learn more about how can best represent complex datastreams and effectively communicate experiences to end users. It’s not typical behavior for an interactive agency but it’s one of the things that keeps our designers and developers constantly striving for original and innovative solutions.
