A huge green awning welcomes you saying: “Sonreir adelgaza” (Smile makes you slim). Probably not many people would get in, but trust me a whole new experience waits for you in this place. Passing the main door, a thoughtful hostess wearing a big smile receives and guides you through this huge NY-style loft – that’s the way the owners want to the place looks like – some coffee tables (for smokers) are outside, huge bookcases filled with all kind of books, comfortable sofas and an iron fireplace complements the ambiance inside. The cherry on top: another terrace at the end of the restaurant with strawberry plants as walls.
Under the main slogan “Eat whatever you want, but eat healthy,” from the same owners of “La puerta grande” (Traditional Spanish food), directly from Ibiza, the chef Silvestre Cortázar offers a varied prix fixe lunch buffet along with a selected menu of Mediterranean influenced main courses. For 18.000 pesos (about 9 USD) you can chose between 35 different organic types of vegetables, carbohydrates and proteins, and eat all you can.
Definitely the “V de Verde” experience goes beyond the amazing food and their home-made sun-dried tomatoes (you REALLY have to taste them). Aromatic plants decorate the tables: fresh basil, mint and pennyroyal grows close enough to touch… and to put them directly in your meal! An ideal place to have a lunch or just a coffee while you read one of their books or drink something with your friends on a cold evening. The music level allows for easy conversation and the wide space guarantees you don’t feel crowded.
If you want to accompany your meal with a wine, an original varietal is offered. Since November they add to menu an organic frugal white wine, recommended with the fresh white fish and the aromatic basmati rice with asparagus and sea fruits. Vegetarian or not, you have to taste the wide variety also offered. And don’t leave without trying the hot carrot cake with poppy-seed and vanilla ice.
